Custom Tea Blend for Baby Shower Favors

We recently had a baby shower for my daughter and I got to work on thank you favors.
Her theme was "Woodland Critters ", so we thought a pretty glass jar of raw, organic honey would fit the theme and be something used by most of the guests. I  ordered a giant bucket of honey from Amazon and several containers from local beekeepers and filled pretty little 7oz jars. I also purchased some wooden drizzle sticks to tie to the bottles to complete the look of the gift.

Now, the party is in NY and we were traveling from Florida with the pretty bottles filled with honey.
We packed the honey with great care, in a spot that would allow us to easily remove and easily replace them for the duration of the trip.
You see, my fear was that the honey would freeze and change during our travels.
I had 45 of the 60 bottles filled with honey on the way up to NY. Enough for guests that were expected but some guests had yet to respond and I thought I better have enough to do a few last minute bottle.
So, off we go on our adventure to see my pregnant daughter with our precious cargo of honey.
At our first stop in South Carolina, at my in laws home, we carefully removed and stored the boxes of honey inside the house.
At our second stop, at the hotel we again transported the honey inside the hotel room for safe keeping.
It was a comedy act of, "Get the honey", "Don't forget the honey" , "We need to bring the honey."
Ok, why am I sharing all these details?
I know this sounds like a lot of drama but it will make a lot of sense in a minute.
We arrive in NY 2 weeks before the shower. And most importantly we carefully store the honey filled bottles inside my aunt's house.
A week before the shower, I now need to fill more bottles of honey for the party guests.
I order my bucket of honey from Amazon and it arrives solid as a rock and FULLY CRYSTALLIZED.

Aaah. Now what?

Remember all those pretty bottles of precious cargo? It's time to check on those. They have been in the boxes for weeks.
Of course to my dismay, every single one of those bottles is completely crystallized!!!!
Now what? I cannot give these out.

After some back and forth with some friends and an approval from my  daughter I created a custom blend of tea as a gift. Really it looks and smells like potpourri.
I ordered almost all of my supplies from Amazon and they arrived in time for my aunt and I to fill the  bottles, two days before the shower. To pretty these up I hung a heart shaped tea infuser from the glass jar.
I wanted to slap a bow on top but at $48., I changed my mind. I ordered silk  flowers for toppers but .......in the end..... those arrived a day later then expected. 

This blend has a very florally taste but has incredible medicinal properties. It can be sipped hot  or cold.
Here's the recipe.

2- 16 oz Packages of chamomile flowers
1- 3 oz  Rosebuds
1 16 0z Lavender
2- 16 oz Hibiscus flower
1 - 12 oz Lemon Grass
1-16 oz Calendula

The blend looks beautiful and taste yummy.

I lined a cardboard box with a garbage bag then dumped all my tea ingredients inside and mixed. This made it easy to fill the bottles too.

Funtastic Friday Link Party # 477

Before we get started I did want you to see what I have been up to lately.

Here's a link to my new project, a Home Apothecary with it's own piece of furniture that I intent to upcycle. Pop over and let me know what  you think. I never saw a piece of furniture like this before. Drop a comment and tell me what you think it was in a former life 

Home #Apothecary -The Perfect Piece

So, I told my husband I wanted to buy a piece of furniture that was to become our home apothecary. 

I'm a furniture whore so I expected rolling eyes. Well, in fact he has never rolled his eyes at me. 

He said, "What, like something out of #HarryPotter?" Ding ding ding yes. Actually, more like something out of  #PracticalMagic is what I was thinking.

We grow many different organic things at our home and have begun to harvest and store them and use them for the health benefits and for cooking and for teas.

I have saved red raspberry leaves, orange rind, lemon grass, basil, oregano, marigold, rosemary and mint. I have curated a collection of ingredients some of which include almond oil, castor oil, vitamin e oil,  Epsom salts, sea salts, essential oils en masse, organic culinary lavender, organic culinary rose petals, bentonite clay, shea butter, bees wax  and organic extra virgin coconut oil just to give you a taste of what's happening and why I wanted this piece of furniture. Everything is spread around the house in different locations. 

I've been on a wellness journey trying to feel better and really trying to take overly processed things out of my life, including over the counter medications and beauty products. My husband has made rosemary hair oil and we have made rosemary clove pain relieving oil. I made rose and castor oil eye drops for my allergies and dry eyes. I swear by mint tea to settle my stomach, help with digestion and alkaline my body. And, I love a good detox foot bath of bentonite clay, Epsom salt, tea tree oil and  lavender oil. Ok , you get the idea.

I mentioned this new idea to my best buddy and neighbor , Wanda. Within a few days she had sent me a link to a piece on FB Marketplace. The most amazing perfect piece.

Yeah, so we drove 1.5 hrs. to Alabama to pick up this giant piece of furniture. 3 hrs. round trip. 

The piece shown in the pictures has shelves that are not pictured. It has locks for the sliding glass doors, the bottom doors and apparently it used to have locks for the middle section.

So let's talk about that middle section.  Take a good look at those slotted spots? What were they used for ? What was this piece used for? It looks like it was some sort of mercantile piece, in fact, possibly an actual apothecary. I searched the internet using google lens trying to match a photo but that proved to be unsuccessful. Here's the fun part, the slotted spaces are doors, two doors. Behind those doors is a a hidden space. So , I have a theory. This may have been used to display bottles of something sold in a store that needed to be locked up. The display pieces were locked up and stored behind the slots at night. Starting to feel like an old apothecary piece, right? Who knows. 

I apologize for the messy pic but keep in mind we shuffled thing around very quickly to get  this in the house before our road trip in 2 days.. Yes, my husband loves me.

Next for this piece is a deep clean and a coating of charcoal paint. Additionally, I see it with some interesting clay embellishments. 

I paid only $75.00 for this piece!!!!!!I know, I know, amazing.
