4 Year Anniversary Party

Every year we celebrate our anniversary down at the Coastal Bohemian studio.  This year was our 4 year anniversary and as usual we celebrated with free crafts and refreshments and CAKE!

Here's our teacher Michele , she teaches Homeschool art Session so of course she could be found connecting with our cutest guest .

Each year, I create a commemorative  artist trading card that embodies the feel of Coastal Bohemian.
This year the second craft was a mini  version of our Fall Banner class.

It's always a pleasant surprise when new students come down to visit. Inevitably we they have fun and we all make new friends.

The best part of my day, my best friend's sister surprised me with a visit. It's a big deal. She lives in NY and was in SC and decided to come down and play.

These girls really free styled their imagination with their banners and wowed us all.

Their was so much love and connection in the air with the combination of creativity, students and new students, teachers and old friends. It's exactly the community of friends I always imagined for Coastal Bohemian.

Thank you all for making the day so special.

With love and gratitude,

Michele

"Oh Bob,  what did you put in the punch? "
Let's get rolling with this week's Funtastic Friday!
Especially looking forward for all your ideas for Fall and Halloween.

Watercolor Doodle Fun

Hey friends. I'm sharing some of my trials with watercolor doodling.

My friend Kat is teaching this class down at Coastal Bohemian studio and I wanted to practice in case I needed to fill in for a class.

This was the first one I did.

Here I was just trying out different doodles.

This was a card for a friend.

Here's a more specific one, as I was trying to make Zen balancing stones.

Using flecks, tapping color onto the page, spraying water on the page and learning to work the color on the page is fun.
For doodling, I used Sharpies w/ various tips and Uniball permanent ink fine tip pens.

Keep it loose and don't take it so seriously and there is fun to be had doodling.

With love and gratitude,

Michele

Fall Banner #Falldecor #Bohodecor #bohemian

Paper covered playing cards form the base of this Fall Banner . Gather up your fall embellishments for some additional color and texture to bring this swag of color to the finish line.

I used vintage pages and orange construction paper to cover each of the playing cards I used in this project. White glue will do the trick here. Then cut the excess paper to create your card base.
Next I used a hole punch to add holes to the top of each card.
I stamped some decorative fall stamps on the orange paper card bases.
Then I stenciled the letters for Fall onto the music sheet card bases.
I used a dry brush of black around the the edges of the Fall card bases.
Now you can use jute or string to thread through the tops of each card to form the banner . I happen to use a long piece of fringed fabric.
 Butterflies
 Leaves

Ribbon and pom poms help pull this look together.

Don't forget to add some strips of fabric tied between the  letters for a colorful fall look.

This was a fun and easy way to add a splash of the season to our home.

With love and gratitude,

Michele
