Artist Trading Cards Challenge April Easter Spring.

Now that we have a monthly Artist Trading Card class ongoing at Coastal Bohemian studio and with several monthly swaps coming up I have been busy making ATC's aka artist trading cards.

This was a a very simple card. I took 3 colors of acrylic paint in the green and blue palette. I just squirted a few drops around a piece of paper and spread it with a wet paper towel. Then I laid a sheet of paper on the painted page and shmeared the paint together to create a smushed paint look . There was enough paint to cover the two papers completely.

After they dried, I used some Faded Jeans blue distress oxide, by Ranger  to soften the look of the paper. To do this, you pounce the oxide pad on a non porous surface like a silicone mat or a plastic cutting mat. After you get some ink on the surface you spritz the area with water. Pick up the watery ink by laying the painted pages in the ink and then allow them to dry. It will leave a mottled blue water marked effect on the page. You can then create a few drip marks by flicking the page with water to add some speckles.  That's the background I created for the stamped rose.

After I stamped the rose I filled in the rose with a deep rich red oil pastel. I added some rosy red gel pen to the rose to help it pop. Then I aged the edges of the atc's with distress ink using a piece of sponge.

I adorned the atc's with a bitty piece of tawny lace, a piece of corrugated paper and the word Bloom.  That's my trade for the April Easter/ Spring club.

love and gratitude,

Michele
