#Destin Lighted Boat Parade- I Manifested a Night of Magic -Christmas in Florida #DestinPartyBoatFishing

When I heard about the Destin Lighted Boat Parade in Destin Harbor, FL,  I knew we had to go.
You see , being from Long Island NY, I always wondered why we didn't have a holiday boat regatta/parade. I mean we are a beach community, swimming with boats, Long Island. What gives?

The pics are not so great in the dark, but I want you to have a sense of the night

We headed down to the docks early enough to walk around the lighted boats and take pictures and feel merry and bright.

We headed toward one of the big fishing party boats, all lit up for the parade. It just so happens that this is the boat, The Destiny, Jason has been following online because they always seem to have a great catch. The Capt must know his S#!t.

Aboard the Destiny

At this point the restaurants, boardwalk, bars and hotels are filling up with thousands of people.
I told Jason, "Let's go down there and take some pictures. Maybe, they'll invite us aboard for the parade. Looks like they have plenty of room. I want to be in the boat parade," I giggled. He just laughs obligingly.

Note:Jason is an easy going, quiet kinda guy. Sometimes I wonder how he wound up with me.

Within seconds of taking pictures with the boat, the Capt jumps onto the deck, takes a look at us and says "You are welcome to come aboard for the parade. I'm Captain Dennis. Feel free to join us, we even have some hot cocoa to keep you warm."

Insert my happy dance here.

We jump aboard and I turn to Jason, "In my head I'm practicing my parade wave." LOL

Lesson: Move toward the things you want to happen in your life. Wholeheartedly.

The parade was a thrill and we participated wholeheartedly, by whooping and cheering and waving. The jolly crowd, responded wholeheartedly.

The parade ended with a big bang , with a tremendous display of fireworks, that we were lucky enough to see, floating upon , The Destiny, just next to the the fireworks barge.
It's a completely different experience being up close and beneath the fireworks display.

Thank you to Capt Dennis and his wife Donna, as well,  the mates and all those that made this such a fun evening.

We are grateful , forever friends, of the Destiny and the Destin Princess Party Fishing Boats family.

Faux Metal with Lace

Take a simple card holder. This one happened to be from a dollar store.

Use decoupage to arrange bits of lace to the card holder. It's ok to add some pieces that hang above the edges. They will need an extra coat of Mod Podge to get them stiff.

Paint it all white. You can use acrylic paint or chalky based paint.

Dry brush all the edges with a grey paint. I used acrylic craft paint for this project.  Wax the entire project and buff.

Thanks for stopping by for a bit of craftiness. I hope I sparked some creativity .

With love and gratitude,

Michele

2018 Christmas Ornament Exchange Handmade Ornament Link Party # ChristmasOrnaments #DIYOrnaments #CoastalOrnaments #BeachOrnaments #NauticalThemeOrnaments

Welcome to the 2018 Christmas Ornament Exchange and Link Party .
You'll see what I made for the DIY Ornament Exchange and you'll be able to link up your own  DIY ornament below at the Link Party InLinkzs Link.

We were each partnered with another blogger with whom we were to exchange our DIY ornament  and that we also would be blogging about.

I made a Fabric Jellyfish Xmas Ornament and so can you. See the tutorial below.

Using a 7" cardboard circle trace out  a fabric circle and cut from the fabric.
Use a simple running stick around the entire circle edge and gather it together forming a mushroom cap shape.

Use a bit of fiber fill to stuff the cap.Pull the thread tight and stitch the circular opening tight, being sure to keeping the stuffing in place.

You will not have a completely closed opening and this is good because we are going to add our jellyfish legs stuffed up in there with some hot glue.

At this point cut 5 ", 6" and 7" pieces of ribbon, fabric, twine etc and make a nice thick bundle. I used some fabric strands from an old fashion mop that I bought at the #DollarTree. This is also a great opportunity for a destash of the craft room. I also added some floral filler that I cut with wire snips.

Glue or tie at the top.

Add a blob of hot glue to the top of the bundle, where you tied or hot glued the bundle it in place.  Insert into that small opening in the mushroom cap.

I used left over printed fabric knowing I was going to tone it down with a dry brush of paint. I used some aqua and purple colors to tone down the fabric and quick dusting of glitter.

Sew on a small jump ring. (Think jewelry making)

Hang on your Christmas tree or your nautical tree or use them all year all over. Fun stuff .

If you have a nautical or coastal tree , these little guys look perfect and make sense tucked in between the starfish, seashells and seahorses.

Now just click the link below to add your own DIY ornament post

With love and gratitude,

Michele
