January is very typically a time to get organized. It's the time of year the stores are loaded down with storage containers in every shape and size. They have conditioned us that the New Year in some way means a time to begin anew , and anew apparently means get organized. So let's do that .

I looked up the word organize because I tend to think organized means getting my affairs in order, you know, knocking off the To Do List.

I decided to showcase my recently completed version of an organized print station. I'm working in small space in my 1 bedroom condo and I do an awful lot of printing so my printer needs to be easily accessible.

This piece of furniture came with the condo and I had been meaning to chalk paint it white for some time.

It's a very pretty piece but I wanted something softer and white which I do not feel was accomplished with this upcycle. Read more here , about how I upcycled this piece of furniture using  furniture stamps that mimic the shabby distress look of painted wood.

My fiance attached a power strip to the back of the furniture. For me , it 's a way to hide the horror show of cords.
See no power cord litter. Ahhhhhh.
In desperation to create an interesting piece I stamped Coastal Bohemian on the bottom. All I see is a birch tree when I look at it, which is actually gorgeous but it is too black and white for my taste. As a piece of birch look furniture, it's dead on perfect , however , I'm considering a dark wax over the top but I'm not there yet.

I added a vintage piece of silver stemware to corral pens and highlighters and tucked in a pair of dollar store cheaters and magnifying glass .

In front of that, I have a phone charger stand.

I know you want me to say I have stored paper in the drawers but I would just be lying. The drawers actually store a collection of teas , candles, small platters etc. It's next to the kitchen so it works for those things.

This suites my needs very well and feels nice and organized, especially since the cords are hidden.

  1. I'm sure organizing your print station makes a huge difference with your limited space, Michele! What a great idea to re-purpose the chest of drawers left into a lovely printer stand!

  2. I like to hide as many cords as I can too; visual neatness is important. What a great idea of use a chest of drawers for normal everyday household storage. Pinned.
