Mixed Media Heart Wreath

As many of you know, I am a mixed media art fan. I love using a variety of mediums in my crafting , probably because I can use up some of what's around me.
Here, I've joined a group of blogging friends for a destash challenge. Basically, we have to create something from the things we currently have stashed in our craft rooms.

Using some left over cardboard and some scraps and odds and ends I created a heart wreath. It's bright and colorful and has a happiness about it.

Below are links to the rest of the challenges. Be sure and see what others have done with their stash.

Let's start with my stash. A few days ago I had been working on a sign using paint and balloons. I laid out my paints on a cardboard gift box . When I was finished, I kept the cardboard for a future project . Perfect , this is the future project.

Using a wooden heart template, (wooden heart template in blue), I traced and cut a bunch of hearts from the leftover cardboard. For this project I used a total of 8 hearts.
Next, I glued the hearts to some decorative Valentine scrapbook paper , also from my stash.
I also cut out a few circles of paint and created a few hand drawn roses.

I wanted the hearts to have a little grunge so I added some red pastel to the edges and rubbed it out, all around the edges.

I hot glued my hearts in the shape of a wreath.
Looking around, I found some bits and parts to add a little texture and color. A red paper clip , a scrap of red fabric for a bow, giant glitter flakes, a tiny butterfly, a pearl handled pin and a pink ticket add just the right amount of texture .
I punched a hole at the top of the wreath and added a piece of red lace for hanging.

I hope you enjoyed this project and I hope it helps you think of ways to use of the stash you are hiding in your home.

You are invited to the Inlinkz link party!

Michele
