I'm excited to share this easy to make boho jar with you today. First, I was able to #upcycle an old candle jar, second, I was able to use up some of my scraps from my stash. This was a total destash project, perfect for self quarantine.
I was inspired by Rita Marie's channel on Youtube.
I did mine slightly different but you'll see.
I started with an old candle jar.
Next I cut a piece of cotton batting and adhered it with tacky glue. I liked the off white color of the batting but you can use any fabric or you can paint the top if you like.
Here it is trimmed and ready for some funkiness.
After the lid had a base I began to add fabric and bits and pieces to create a layer for the bottom. I twisted fabric, frayed edges, unraveled twine and glued along the outer edges first and then added to the inner circle and I even added some real birch bark.
This is a scrap of a cotton strand from a Dollar Tree mop head.
From there I added pearls and shells and more fabric and twine. In the case of this project, more is more is more , and maybe not enough. Keep going until there isn't a spot left to add another thing.
I love the way the colors of the shell pick up the colors in the laces.
I think what completed the project for me was the addition of the tiny pearls around the edges of the lace and fabric.
Thanks for playing along.
With love and gratitude,
Michele
