Inspirational Paper Flower Frame

I was inspired to make something with paper flowers after a class we had down at the Coastal Bohemian Studio.

Our teacher Michele, made these beautiful pieces as a sample for the class and I just couldn't  get those vibrant petals out of my head.

As we were planning classes for the upcoming month I suggested she create a paper flower wreath class. However, I will be missing it so I decided I would start making some flowers and make my own wreath.

I was sitting around making plans to go buy a wreath frame /form when I remembered I had a wooden frame I could use instead.

Hot glue the flowers to the wreath filling in all the space around the wood.

Here's how I made the flowers.

Fold several small pieces of paper and cut out the petals

Layer the petals onto one another using a hot glue gun.

Once dried I used watercolors to swipe on some color.
To add some dimension to the flowers, I gently scrunched the flower.
I also cut single petals and attached them with hot glue .

There are so many petal shapes to use so make sure to experiment.

I created a 5 petal flower and then created several 5 petal layers stacked for a full flower effect.
And some 4 petal layered blooms.

For the inspirational quote, I upcycled a piece from an old planner to make a tag.
Cut the corners to create the tag and punch a hole at the top to hang.

I had this decorative twine from a candle that I used to hang the tag. I added a bit of color by rolling it around on an ink pad.

I stamped around the tag to give it some more charm.
Using card stock, I stamped the quote in archival ink so that I could watercolor over the words to give it a pop of color.

A little twirl of twine and some lace and a clip of an old book page created a nice layered background for the quote.

It's a very sweet and SpringY piece.

I hope you enjoyed this colorful bit of Springtime fun.

If so leave a comment below.

With love and gratitude,

Michele
