Heart Shaped Trivet /Hot Plate/ Hot Pad #QuiltedTrivet #FabricTrivet #Valentinetrivet #Valentine #ValentinesDay

I had a small piece of this beautiful floral fabric in my stash and I really wanted to use it as an addition to my Valentine's Day décor.

I decided to make a colorful , showy, heart shaped, trivet.

I want to start out by saying, clearly, "I am not a quilter".

Now, here's what I did.

Cut two 10" fabric hearts. Cut two batting hearts 8.5" I did this free hand. It doesn't matter what size heart you use for the fabric, what you want is  the batting to be at least an 1.5" smaller so you have a nice amount to fringe.
You don't have to cut the perfect heart just yet. In the end, I cut fringe around the edge and clean up the look to really define the heart shape.

I sandwich two batting pieces between fabric and pin at the edges of the batting.

Now I do some informal stitching around the batting edge and then continue around several more times to get a good amount of stitching inside to define the  heart.

I cut some fringe around the edge.

What a sweet addition to the Valentine's Day table.

It really looks best when you wash and dry the fabric because all those shabby edges get better, in my opinion.

See the fringe really pops after a good wash and dry.

This is a happy piece. It makes me happy to have it around. So I guess that makes me happy. LOL
